
How does Pro Active Physical Therapy help?
The first goal is to reduce pain and swelling if there is any. Then the next step is to increase flexibility, strength, coordination and balance, this may involve stretching, lifting weights, walking, manual therapy, and electrical stimulation among others. The goal of Pro Active Physical therapy for seniors is to make daily tasks and activities easier. And to make seniors as independent as possible. If the elderly are recovering from an illness, injury or surgery, restoring function, reducing pain and improving quality of life becomes the main objective.Types of Pro Active Physical therapy in elderly:
Manual Therapy: It is performed by the hands of the physical therapist keeping the goal in mind that the pain should be reduced, flexibility in the muscles and range of motion in the joints is improved.. Manual Therapy includes the following techniques:- Soft tissue Mobilization
- Joint Mobilization
- Allows patients to directly access physical therapist treatment for 45 calendar days or 12 visits after which time the patient must be seen by a physician who must approve the plan of care developed by the physical therapist. Note: this time limit impacts only patients who receive direct treatment from a physical therapist. Patients who see a physical therapist for wellness services or who already have obtained a medical diagnosis from a licensed diagnostician before or during care are not subject to the 45-day/12 visit time limit.
